One day in this beautiful paradise and I didn't feel good... again. It seems the bug from before had just gone into hiding only to spring up at the worst time. Fortunately, I was still able to enjoy laying out on the sandy beaches and simply relax.
After getting into port, we left right away to Ile Des Deux Cocos. And for all you non-French speakers, that means "The Island of Two Coconuts". It's a lovely island about 40 miles away from Port Louis, where we docked. It's on the opposite side of the island and only took about an hour to get to. That's how small Mauritius is.
Small history section about Mauritius:
-Discovered by the Portuguese. Used it as a ship port. Left. Dutch came. Set up settlement. Sugar Cane. Slaves from Africa. Left. French came. Fought British. Eventually lost. British came. Indians (from India) brought in. Later independence. And Chinese immigrants.
-In other words, it's an island that's inhabited by Indians, Africans, and Chinese. Hindu, Muslim, Christian... crazy diversity.
So went to the island. Beautiful blue water. Beautiful beaches. Beautiful coral. Saw the underwater life with a ride in a glass bottom boat. It was pretty cool.
Laid on the beach. Sorta slept. But sickness made me miss out on snorkeling and lunch, which was depressing. But it's okay. I still had a good time.
Later went to the clinic. Got some antibiotics. All good.

Sea Olympics! It was a crazy day. People were everywhere. Screaming was everywhere. It was wacko.
Still sorta sick. But better. Sculpted mashed potatoes with Lia. We made Les McCabe (the Executive Dean) holding the world and the world "UBUNTU" (people are people through people) our motto for the trip. It was awesome. Was in the Bering Sea. We tied for third with two other seas, including Hussain's, the Arabian sea. They were brown. How perfect for Hussain.

I miss you Steve! Sorry you were ill... Mauritius sounds really interesting, especially because I'm studying colonialism and post-colonial discourses right now.
Your and Hussain's pictures are beautiful.
Mauritius was beautiful, so it was easy enough to capture.
Just wait until you see some Thailand pictures. I love Thailand!
